“An Engagement in the Spring”

“An Engagement in the Spring”

This past Friday, my son surprised us all with the announcement that he (David) will marry Christy in September.  He chose Friday for the proposal, I am told, for the element of surprise, as Christy had anticipated another day.  But without her knowledge, my son and her father, David, worked their magic at her home.  A trail of rose petals led the way to the outdoor gazebo where on bended knee our son David proposed to his future bride, Christy!  Needless to say, Dorothy and I were overwhelmed with both joy and surprise.  From what I hear, David and Kaylynn are feeling this same sense of joy!

Christy and David have announced the day for September 29th, at the location of Worbington Farms, in Cummin, Georgia, which is owned by Christy’s extended family.  At two o’clock on Saturday afternoon the holy knot will be tied, in the name of the Father, and of the Son (our Lord Jesus), and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen!  It is a “Save the Day” moment in time.  A wedding in the Lord Jesus Christ is both a day of beginning and of ending.  The old passes and behold the new is come!  “Forsaking all others, keeping only unto Christy and David.”  This is what both must affirm for this day to have its meaningful completion!  What is old becomes new; what is anticipated becomes a new reality!  “What God has therefore joined together, let no one put asunder!”  This is what the holy scriptures declare.

We all could not be more pleased and glad!  We are rejoicing in our Lord!  Thirty years ago, when Dorothy and I dedicated our first born son to the Lord (Luke 1:23), we did so in anticipation that one day he would meet this woman, Christy.  She is a strong Christian woman.  She serves in her local church.  She plays saxophone for the worship services.  She is a teacher of young children and a librarian.  She has done mission for the Lord Jesus in many parts of the world.  She is a beautiful woman, whose beauty is completed by the love of Jesus which comes from her heart to those around her!  My son is today a blessed man, to have been given by God such a lovely bride!

Soon, two families will come together as one, to celebrate the joy of this marriage union.  The wedding vows are clear, “forsaking all others, keep thee only unto her (or him).”

This is a story of announcement for our family!  SAVE THE DAY!  September 29, 2018 at 2:00PM.

I (we) could not be prouder!  (Psalm 127)
